| Buckeye Walking Horse Association Dear Prospective Member The Buckeye Walking Horse Association is the oldest walking horse club in Ohio. We are a social club with monthly meeting except for August (due to the Celebration) and December. Our club currently hosts three horse shows and a horse sale. Show Dates Spring Fling Horse Show, May 16 & 17th, 2008 Henderson Arena, Jackson, Ohio Summer Classic Horse Show July 19, 2008 Ashland County Fairgrounds, Ashland Ohio October 3rd & 4th, 2008 The Ohio Celebration at Henderson Arena, Jackson, Ohio Horse Sale Date: April 5, 2008 at the Richland County Fairgrounds Manfield, Ohio All our shows have a mixture of pleasure, Versatility, and padded horse classes. We also include a few spotted and racking horse classes, country pleasure as well as easy gait. Our members support all facets of the breed. The club supports a High Point Award Program where horses are nominated for a category or categories by paying a nomination fee. Points are awarded for placement at shows and tallied over the course of the show season. Winners receive awards at our year end (January) high point banquet. You must be a club member to participate in the awards program, but you don’t have to be a member to show at our shows. Our show in October, The Ohio Celebration hosts the Ohio Regional Futurity. The nominations for the futurity are separate from the high point award program and follow the rules and regulations established by the TWHBEA. Our contact for the futurity is Merrie Ellen Polch. The show circuit in this area is a combination of local community sponsored shows with up to five walking horse classes (usually all pleasure) and all walking horse shows. Our newsletter tries to list contact people for the shows but we cannot always enclose a show bill. If you need further information don’t hesitate to call or write.
